Summary
Jormungandr is the world-encircling serpent, son of Loki, so vast it fills the entire ocean and bites its own tail. Thor repeatedly attempts to hook and kill it; in Ragnarok, they finally destroy each other. This ouroboros figure encodes the ocean as both provider (fish) and threat (storms, tidal waves).
