Summary
Nun is the primordial ocean of chaos from which Atum emerges to create the world. Nun is not a god in the narrative sense but an eternal principle: the undifferentiated, limitless waters that precede creation and surround it. Every year Nun returns partially in the Nile flood—hence creation repeats cyclically.
